As part of the change in publishing strategy I mentioned in a previous post, this week I finally wound down Haunted Pixel Studio’s website. After 30 years of being the face of my comic career, it’s time to not say goodbye (I’m still holding on to the domain and logos for future use if needed) but it’s time to step out from behind the studio and just be myself.
For decades, I always used the studio brand as a kind of way to project some legitimacy with my work. Make it look like it wasn’t just a guy in his studio drawing comics alone. However, that’s all it’s been the whole time and I figured it was time to set things on a more simple course. This doesn’t really change much in the grand scheme of things I guess. It’s still just me and all of my comics are still right where they’ve always been.
The studio name was originally coined back in the late 90s. I have always loved Halloween and wanted to reflect that in my name. At the time, webcomics was really starting to take off and everything was about digital content. So I figured if my work, being Halloween based, was haunted it would probably be made up of ‘haunted pixels’. Cut to three decades later and here we are.
Since I’m keeping the domain name, you can still reach this site now via hauntedpixelstudio.com if you really don’t want to update your bookmarks. But from here on out, it’s just me.
